Why this actually works.
A visual reference to every concept we cite in our member emails — neuroplasticity, the default mode network, alpha brainwaves, and the research that points us forward.
"We don't ask you to take our word for it. The research is pointing where our members already feel."
The science we lean on.
Your brain forms new connections.
Neuroplasticity is the brain's ability to form and reorganize neural connections. It's how you learn new skills, change habits, and adapt your emotional responses. Microdoses are part of a class of compounds called psychoplastogens — substances that promote neural growth and rewiring.
- 8 to 12 weeks of consistent input is the window where structural change tends to land.
- Neuroplastic shifts happen between dosing days, during integration.
Ly et al., Cell Reports, 2018 — "Psychedelics promote structural and functional neural plasticity"
The mind's idle channel, quieted.
The DMN is a network of brain regions active during self-reflection and mind-wandering. It's also where rumination, overthinking, and repetitive thought loops live. Emerging research suggests microdoses temporarily reduce rigid activity in the DMN, allowing for more cognitive flexibility and less mental looping.
- An overactive DMN is linked to depression, anxiety, and chronic rumination.
- Reducing DMN rigidity is one of the strongest correlates of psychedelic therapeutic effect.

The frequency of flow.
Microdosing has been associated with increased alpha brainwave activity — the same pattern observed during meditation, creative flow, and deep focus. Alpha states are the bridge between alert and at-ease.
- Calm alertness. Awake and ready, but not anxious or wired.
- Reduced mental noise. Less chatter between you and the moment.
- Improved creative insight. The state where ideas connect.

The receptor that responds.
The 5-HT2A serotonin receptor is the primary site of action for microdoses. When activated, it triggers downstream effects on neuroplasticity, cognitive flexibility, and mood. It's also why we cycle: receptors that see input every day downregulate.
- Daily use desensitizes the receptors. The same dose does less over time.
- Pulsed dosing keeps them responsive. Less input. Bigger response.
Nichols, Frontiers in Neuroscience, 2018 — "Psychedelics, 5-HT2A receptors and tolerance"
The research is already in.
Full-dose psychedelic therapy has shown meaningful results in clinical trials for depression, PTSD, anxiety, and end-of-life distress. While microdose-specific clinical trials are newer, the underlying mechanisms are the same.
- Treatment-resistant depression. 70%+ response rates in early Imperial College trials.
- PTSD & anxiety. Sustained effects measured 6 to 12 months after treatment.
Goodwin et al., NEJM, 2022 — "Single-dose psilocybin for a treatment-resistant episode of major depression"
The 66-day threshold.
The most-cited research on habit formation found that the average behavior takes 66 days to become automatic. The full range is 18 to 254 days, depending on the complexity of the habit and the consistency of practice.
- 66 days, on average. The point at which conscious effort becomes automatic.
- Missing a day doesn't break the process. Consistency matters, not perfection.
Lally et al., European Journal of Social Psychology, 2010 — "How are habits formed: Modelling habit formation in the real world"
What people actually report.
Microdosing-specific clinical trials are still forming, but observational studies and large-scale surveys consistently show steady improvements in mood, focus, creativity, and stress regulation across thousands of participants.
- Improved mood and focus were the most-reported benefits across studies.
- Reduced anxiety and depression reported at meaningful rates among regular practitioners.
